Don't worry ! We've gotcha covered ! The Private One-On-One Training Course is often the first service our clients choose in order to address these and many other issues. Our inital meeting is 2 to 3 hours long, and you will be astounded by the progress your dog makes during that time ! We will be able to further eliminate unwanted behaviors and create desirable ones during our second and third follow-up training sessions, which are included at no extra cost ! During our first meeting, we'll discuss your immediate concerns regarding your dog's behavior, as well as your overall goals for your dog. I will go over basic canine psychology, the importance of leadership and consistency throughout the life of your dog, what your dog needs to enjoy optimum physical health, training tools / equipment, training modalities / philosophies, and the setting of rules, boundaries and limitations for your dog. After a thorough behavioral evaluation of your dog, I will create a training plan specifically designed for you and your dog. Working as a team, this plan will help you achieve your goals in a calm, positive and practical manner. You will be taught how to successfully use the training tools that are appropriate for your dog, and we will go through the training plan together to ensure that you can properly and confidently follow through with the program at home. Our second and third meetings will entail fine tuning the skills your dog is learning and introducing more advanced techniques and challenges. We will also begin to incorporate more distractions during training sessions in order to "proof" your dogs newfound abilities. In general, the second and third meetings last from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours and can take place at your home, at Calm K9's facility, or at a public venue such as a park or a pet supply store. Ideally, the Private One-On-One Training Course is completed within a 6 week period, with intervals of 2 weeks between each of our 3 meetings. In addition, you'll receive a comprehensive set of reading materials which you can refer to as you work with your dog on your own. Throughout your dog's 14 days of residency, we will zero in on his/her unique issues and provide undivided, concentrated instruction and coaching. Following your dog's stay at Calm K9, we will work with you to make sure that you are confident, comfortable and well informed about what to do once your dog returns home.
